Location: St David's Retail Centre, Cardiff
Commissioned by: Abercrombie & Fitch
Guildprime was employed by Abercrombie & Fitch to undertake the complete internal fit out of a retail unit in Cardiff for Hollister & Co. Hollister brings Southern California to the world and for this project Hollister wanted to bring it to St David's retail centre in Cardiff; completely fitting out an empty unit in the Upper Grand Arcade. The open concept store included space for Gilly Hicks, their sleepwear and intimates brand, whilst also incorporating their updated prototype format.
Installation of new shop front, floor tiling, air conditioning, plumbing, installation of all joinery, mechanical works, electrical works, structural steel (including design responsibility), fire alarms and sprinkler system, fire-stopping, decoration, management of Hollister vendors including AV / IT
The biggest challenge faced by Guildprime with this project was its timing as it began very shortly before the Covid19 crisis. Even with Wales going into lockdown, it was imperative that the job was completed, but our new priority was the safety of our teams and of course that of the general public. We needed to ensure all work was undertaken with minimal risk. This meant that alongside already robust existing site rules, we had to very quickly adapt to our new even safer working practices; with team members working alone when possible or a safe distance from each other when not.
We overcame these challenges by introducing some new lifting equipment, electric mobile cranes and with Guildprime ingenuity!
