Location: High Holborn, London
Commissioned by: Sedley Place Architects
Guildprime Specialist Contracts was instructed by the architects from Sedley Place, who were engaged to deliver the complete refurbishment of this two bedroom penthouse in central London. There was a need for more space and light as well as clever storage solutions. We originally created a programme which incorporated all requirements from the client, including introducing natural light, as well as very detailed and complex space-saving joinery.
The penthouse is located on the 7th floor of the building which is shared with three other homes, so our contractors had to work within certain noise constraints in order to be as unobtrusive as possible to the neighbours. Our original programme was successfully adapted around this duty of care.
The lift for the building was of a standard size which could not accommodate much of our material and bespoke joinery. This meant a lot was taken via the stairs with great care needed to ensure there was no damage to the stairwells, communal areas or the goods themselves.
The project was running to programme, but an extension of time was agreed by all parties to allow for the considerable extra works requested by the homeowner during the project, including the reconfiguration of the master bathroom to make it larger.
