A shop fitters love affair with retail luxury

August 3, 2016 by Guildprime

Luxury retail in prime city locations is not for the faint hearted with millions, and often tens-of-millions-of-pounds being invested in store development and shop fitting. London, is for good reason, an essential jewel in the crown of international shopping destinations for luxury retailers. Not surprisingly the expectation on the shop fitter is considerable.

London is home to some of the world’s most exclusive and visited shopping locations: Regent Street, Oxford Street, Old and New Bond Street and of course Chelsea’s Kings Road and the surrounding streets of Mayfair, Knightsbridge and are home to many established luxury brands. They are also sought after by those seeking to establish an international presence for their brand - in some locations this has led to demand outstripping availability.

Not surprising seeing as London accounted for 54% of all inbound visitor spend in 2015. That’s 54% of 36.1 million visitors who spent a whooping £22.1 billion in the UK - that’s 5% up on 2014.

In addition London is home to internationally known department stores such as Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Fortnum and Mason, Fenwick and Liberty to name but a few. These stores offer brands that have built there businesses online the opportunity to establish a more intimate physical relationship with their followers through concessions.

Guildprime has an established reputation as a shop fitter and has worked on the retail fitout of international flagship stores for luxury brands such as: Michael Kors, Waterworks, Jerome Dreyfus and Tumi. In addition we have worked extensively with brands such as: DKNY, GUCCI, Christian Dior, and Louis Vuitton; installing their concession outlets in leading department stores not just in London but across Europe.

With over 30 years’ experience as shop fitters we know the parameters of working on flagship stores on London’s busiest high streets. We are familiar with the rigorous regulations set out by London boroughs. We understand the protocols and restrictions of working in leading department stores alongside other big brand names.
